In the 6th century, Pope Gregory I outlawed certain musical harmonies. These harmonies he declared were "diabolis in musica," or "the devil's music." It was... the Rock & Roll of the Dark Ages!Inspired by these high-energy folk and dance tunes , Diabolis In Musica blends medieval melodies and instrumentation with modern and international flavors, resulting in a uniquely timeless sound. The group's repetoire is multi-cultural, drawing from ancient tunes from all countries in Europe and the middle east. We play a variety of authentic medieval instruments including rauschpfiefes, shawm, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe and a dozen different hand-drums. Our boisterous sound is the sound of celebrations from centuries past. Come rock and roll with Diabolis in Musica. We're going to party like it's 1399!
