We often refer to this song as "Jibba Jabba". This is a modern song written by Britta Lüthje of Satolstelamanderfanz, one of our favorite German Medieval bands. Dancers love this song, and it's one of our most popular numbers. The lovely Laura Blake dances with our band in this video.
Eisbärentanz
This is a pretty standard Medieval folk number, played all over Europe. We put several songs into a medley. The songs are Eisbärentanz, The Maltese Bransle, a tune that I don't have a title for, followed by a reprise of Eisbärentanz. The dancer is the lovely Anin "Nina" O'Keefe, who is one of our troup of dancers called the "Diabolettes". We love it when all of them are together, but our schedules don't permit it.
Kuss Mein Arsch! Performed at the Winslowshire Renaissance Festival, 2011
Kuss Mein Arsch is not a real medieval tune, but an original Medieval-style tune written by Brother Grypweade (Wayne Humphrey). The Drummer provided a beat that was irresistable, and the familiar sounding interlude was inevitable. Apologies to Gary Glitter!
Falkenlied
Falkenlied is a 14th century German song. Ther lyrics were made by Minstrel Krampf, to tell a different story for a modern audience.
Herr Mannelig
With the rest of the band busy carting instruments away, Minstrel Krampf and Suzette Mallette jam with the other musicians at the castle. Herr Mannelig is one of the most popular Medieval ballads of all time. Minstrel Krampf turns up the speed and volume!
Welsh Wives' Dance (Witches' Bransle)
This song is a traditional Welsh dance that dates back to medieval times. The lovely Laura Blake is from the present, and oh, do they go good together...
Raven's Ballade
Raven's Ballade is an old medieval tune that has been translated into nearly every European language. Our version is mostly true to the original, in that it's about 3 Ravens trying to eat a dead knight guarded by a dog and a hunting falcon. We introduce it as a children's song, "because kids love animals". Yeah, we played at a real castle!
Toudion
The drunken Lady Jocelyn, clad in her Medieval underskirt, grabs the bottle of wine and runs away to flirt with the crowd! This is one of our oldest numbers, and we still play it regularly.
Eisbärentanz
This is another performance of one of our standard tunes, played at nearly every show. This version is particularly fun, because Brother Grypweade is so animated! Sorry about the cut off ant the end, but the camera ran out of space! Recorded at Gloucester's famous Hammond Castle, which is the perfect venue for our type of music.
Cantiga 1000
Another one of our older numbers, still performed regularly. Jady Jocelyn insists that we stop playing rowdy folk tunes and do a classic Cantiga, for those who appreciate culture. We are playing Cantiga 100, which really goes this way, but we contrast the two parts with loud and soft instruments.
Platerspiel
This is from King Richard's Faire, 2009, with our Original drummer, Brian "Black Bart" LeDuke (We still love you, man!).
